Liezl Gevers is currently a second year PhD student in African History. She received her BA and Honours degrees from the University of KwaZulu Natal and her MA from the University of the Western Cape. Her previous research focused on an aspect of the history of social welfare in South Africa. Currently, her research interests include political activism, political consciousness, identity, intellectual histories of past futures, race and gender in twentieth century South Africa. Before embarking on her career in academia, Liezl worked in the Adult Education and Training sector in South Africa.
