Gerardo Manrique de Lara Ruiz
Gerardo Manrique de Lara Ruiz graduated from the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE) in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations. In 2016, he was an exchange student at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where he deepened his interest and knowledge in African politics. His undergraduate thesis analyzed the relationship between political trust and traditional leaders in African democracies. Following this, Gerardo worked for a decentralized government agency in Mexico, where he helped promote transparency and open government. At Yale, he intends to study political trust and informal institutions in African countries.
