Political Science

Christina Seyfried studies the political economy of development and quantitative methods, with a focus on development finance and the interaction of economic and political development in lower-income economies. For her dissertation, she is collecting and analyzing observational and experimental data to understand variation in how African governments strategize around Chinese investments regarding local human capital development, technology transfers, and inclusive growth.

Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, she holds a BA (summa cum laude) in Economics and Diplomacy/World Affairs from Occidental College (2015). While completing my degree, I conducted research for the United Nations Foundation (UNF) in NYC, the U.S. Embassy in Austria, and the International Budget Partnership (IBP) in Kenya. Prior to joining Yale, I worked at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO).
